Prize Sessions & Awards

ISS/SIC Free Paper Prize
The 12 best abstracts intended for a Free Paper presentation in the program of ISS/SIC are presented in the two "Nyhus / Grassi Prize Session" on Thursday, September 10, 2009 and are awarded a Certificate. A jury of internationally recognized experts will choose the best presentation in these Prize Sessions. A Prize Money of AUD 2'000.00 for the best presentation will be awarded to the Presenting Author. The Prize will be given at the ISS/SIC General Assembly on Thursday.


ISS/SIC Poster Prize
A jury of internationally recognized experts will nominate the best Poster (regardless of category "Poster Discussion" or "Poster Exhibition Only") in the programs of ISDS & ISS/SIC. The Presenting Author will be awarded a Certificate and Prize Money of AUD 1'000.00. The Prize will be given at the ISS/SIC General Assembly on Thursday.


IAES Poster Prize
The International Association of Endocrine Surgeons (IAES) awards the Presenting Authors of the 3 best Posters in the field of Endocrine Surgery. Prizes will be given at an IAES function.


IATSIC Free Paper Prize
The International Association for Trauma Surgery and Intensive Care (IATSIC) will evaluate the best Free Paper presentation in one of the regular IATSIC Free Paper Sessions. The Presenting Author of the best presentation in this field will be awarded a Prize Money of AUD 1'000.00 and a Certificate. The prize will be given at the IATSIC Reception and Dinner on Tuesday.


IATSIC Poster Prize
IATSIC will evaluate the best Poster on Trauma Surgery and will award the Presenting Author a Prize Money of AUD 500.00 with a Certificate (regardless of category "Poster Discussion" or "Poster Exhibition Only"). The prize will be given at the IATSIC Reception and Dinner on Tuesday.


BSI Free Paper Prize
Six abstracts in the field of Breast Surgery based on unpublished original work will be selected for presentation in the BSI Best Paper Award Session. Individuals interested for their abstracts to be considered for the award will need to check the appropriate box in the Abstract Submission form. The selected presenters will be intimated of the decision by March 31, 2009. They will be asked to fully register for the Congress and submit a full length manuscript of the paper to be presented, conforming to the format of original articles in World Journal of Surgery WJS through its online submission platform https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/wjs latest by April 30, 2009. These manuscripts will be published in the BSI issue of WJS after undergoing a fast track review process. Failure to register and submit the full length manuscript in time may preclude the selected abstract from being presented in the Congress.

All six selected papers will be presented in the "Best paper competition session" on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. The Presenting Author of the best BSI paper in the award session as adjudged by a panel of eminent breast surgeons will be awarded a Certificate and USD 500.00 Cash Prize. All other presenters will be awarded a Certificate of Presentation in the award session.


BSI Poster Prize
All posters displayed at the BSI program at ISW 2009 will be evaluated by a panel of eminent experts during the poster viewing session on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. Prizes consisting of certificate and USD 300.00 respectively USD 200.00  will be awarded to those adjudged as the best and second best posters. The Presenting Author will be asked to fully register for the Congress latest by April 30, 2009. Failure to register in time may preclude the selected abstract from being presented in the Congress.

The Presenting Authors, on their discretion may consider submitting a full length manuscript of the paper to be presented, conforming to the format of original articles in World Journal of Surgery through its online submission platform https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/wjs. These manuscripts will be published in the BSI issue of WJS after undergoing a fast track review process.


ISDS Grassi Prize
The ISDS-Grassi Prize was first established in 1986 in honor of Professor Giuseppe Grassi. The prize of € 1,000 will be awarded to the young surgeon with the best scientific research presentation on GI surgery at the Congress. Six lectures will be selected and read in the two "Nyhus / Grassi Prize Session" on Thursday, September 10, 2009: a commission of experts will evalue them and will assign the Grassi-Prize during the Congress.


AAST Free Paper Prize
Abstracts for the AAST Prize Award are to be submitted through: www.aast.org
Deadline for the submission of Abstracts for the AAST Prize Session is January 15, 2009
The American Association for the Surgery of Trauma will select 6 high quality abstracts in the field of Trauma, Burns and Acute Care Surgery/Emergency Surgery for presentation in the IATSIC/AAST Scientific Paper Session on Tuesday. The Presenting Author of the best presentation will be awarded a Prize Money of USD 1'000.00. The prize will be given at the IATSIC Reception and Dinner on Tuesday. All other abstracts will be encouraged to go through the IATSIC / ISS/SIC process.  Submitted manuscripts will be considered for publication in the World Journal of Surgery.
